Wedding photography is a category we see most couples splurge on. Keep reading to see what we prefer every wedding photography contract has stated in the agreement.

Start and end times

You’ll want the start and end times clearly listed in your contract so you know how many hours of coverage you’re paying for. This defines when the photography hours begin and end. Typically, most wedding photographers will arrive a little bit before their start time which does not count as coverage time. This area of the contract is typically where other pertinent information is also stated such as name of your venue and date.
Format of deliverables

Make sure you understand exactly how your photos will be delivered to you. Will it be via a digital gallery? A USB? Will you receive raw and edited images? Is there a clause about how many images will be delivered in the gallery? If you make a special request, make sure it is stated in the wedding photography contract terms.
Reschedule or cancellation terms

If for any reason you or your photographer needs to reschedule or cancel, understand what the process is. Additionally, know what your options are and check for any financial implications. This clause should be reasonably fair to both you and the photographer if one of you needs to cancel or reschedule. Also check if the contract defines what valid reasons for cancellation or rescheduling include.
Payment schedule

Given most people splurge on their wedding photos, the price tag can also be quite high. Check your wedding photography contract for terms about how much you owe your photographer by each date. Your photographer will most likely set up a schedule for you and outline it in the contract. This is also where you want the accepted payment methods defined.
Model release and posting rights

Many photographers will state they have the right to post your wedding photos on their digital channels and use them for their business purposes. This clause may also include terms about how you must credit them if you post your own wedding pictures. If you are not comfortable with having your wedding photos posted anywhere, discuss how to modify this clause before you sign.
